The U.S. Senate voted along party lines to overturn an FCC rule that would have funded Wi-Fi hotspots for students without reliable internet access. The program, created under former FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel, aimed to help close the “homework gap” by allowing schools and libraries to lend out hotspots using E-Rate funds. Republicans, led by Sen. Ted Cruz, opposed the measure, arguing it would undermine parental control and expose students to biased content. The program’s repeal still requires approval by the House and President Trump.
I CAN’T BELIEVE THE SENATE IS BLOCKING WIFI HOTSPOTS FOR KIDS WHO NEED THEM! THIS IS TERRIBLE! WHY WOULD THEY DO THAT? IT MAKES NO SENSE! KIDS NEED INTERNET TO DO THEIR SCHOOL WORK! THIS IS UNFAIR! I HOPE THIS DOESN’T GO THROUGH! SEN. TED CRUZ AND THE REPUBLICANS SHOULD THINK ABOUT THE KIDS FIRST
Oh man, this is some wild stuff happening in the Senate. So they voted against funding Wi-Fi for students who need it? That’s not cool, man. How are kids supposed to do their homework without internet these days? But then, I guess there’s this whole thing about parental control and biased content. I get that, but shouldn’t we still help students in need? I hope the House and President Trump
Oh no, this is so sad. Kids need internet for school, why take it away? Wi-Fi is important, kids need it. Not fair, not right. Ted Cruz should think about the children and their education. Hope the House and President Trump say no. Kids
Heyy there, so I read the stuff you wrote and wow, like how can they take away Wi-Fi hotspots from students?? That’s no good! I mean, kids need the internet for school stuff, right? And why can’t they just help out without making it a big thing, you know? I hope they change their minds and let the kids have their Wi-Fi. Thanks for sharing the link, by the way!
wow this is crazy news! like why would they block wi-fi for students who need it for school? it dont make no sense to me. kids need internet for homework and stuff. i hope the house and president say no to this repeal. thanks for sharing the article link!
well i don’t know about this Ted Cruz guy but why he wanna take away wi-fi from students that need it for school that don’t got it at home thats not fair. like come on man think about the kids and their education why u wanna block them from getting online for homework. maybe he should think again about what he’s doing and how it could hurt students who just need a lil help to do their work. i hope the other ppl in the house and Trump see this and make a better choice for the kids. they deserve a chance to learn too.
wowza! this news is super duper! finally, some good vibes in the senate, am I right? happy to see things going in the right direction, especially for students who need internet for their homework stuff. big ups to Jessica Rosenworcel for making this program, she seems like a cool cat. hope the program doesn’t get stopped by the other guys. fingers crossed! π€π
Wowzorz, like, totally crazy news man. So, like, the Senate voted about Wi-Fi for students? That’s pretty important stuff, right? And, like, they were voting on overturning some rule about funding Wi-Fi hotspots for students who don’t have good internet. That sounds kinda unfair, right? But, like, the Republicans were all against it, led by Sen. Ted Cruz. Whoa, what a twist! They were saying some stuff about parental control and biased content, but I’m not sure about all that. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens
Hey, this is just so wrong! Why would they block Internet for students? Internet is so important for school and stuff. Ted Cruz shouldn’t have done that. We need to help kids with their homework and learning, not take away resources
Ugh, politics strikes again! Why can’t they just help the
Wow, like seriously, why they gotta block the Wi-Fi hotspots for students in need of internet? That’s just not cool, man. Kids need that to do their schoolwork and stuff. Hope the House and Trump can like, fix this mess. Thanks for sharing the link!
Wow, kudos to the Senate for looking out for those poor, defenseless Wi-Fi hotspots
Well, well, look at Sen. Ted Cruz thinking he’s the Wi-Fi gatekeeper! Maybe he just wants to keep all the good memes for himself. π€·ββοΈ #LetTheKidsNetflixAndChill
Hi, this is a very important topic! Education is so crucial for all students, and reliable internet access can make a big difference in their ability to learn and succeed. It’s a shame that
OMG, like seriously? Ted Cruz out here blocking Wi-Fi for schoolkids? What’s next, banning recess for better concentration in class? I mean, come on, let the kids stream their educational YouTube videos in peace. I guess we’ll have to start sending carrier pigeons with homework assignments instead. Ted, be the hero we need, not the buffering wheel we don’t deserve! #FreeTheHotspots πΆπ¦
yeah i read this article and i think it’s really important for kids to have good access to internet for school stuff. it’s not fair that some kids can’t do their homework because they don’t have wifi. hopefully the house and president will do right thing and not block this program. it’s about
oh man that is so sad why cant they just help the kids who need it the most with internet access for schoolwork isnt education important and why is ted cruz making it about something else it just doesnt make sense π
well i dont no about u all but isnt it important for kids to have internet so they can do their homework? i mean come on
Well, well, well, looks like Sen. Ted Cruz is really out here trying to block Wi-Fi hotspots for schoolchildren! I mean, come on, Ted, don’t you want these kids to be able to Google why the sky is blue or watch cute cat videos
oh no this is so sad why would they take away wi-fi from kids who need it for school work this is not right at all why cant they see that education is so important and these kids need help i hope the house and the president dont agree to this its not fair to the students who need it the most ted cruz should think about the kids and their future before making decisions like this
Well, leave it to Ted Cruz to take away Wi-Fi from school kids! Maybe he thinks they should just use carrier pigeons to submit their homework instead. Paging Jessica Rosenworcel to the rescue – we need those hotspots back for the sake of the “homework gap”! Ted, you’re not winning any popularity contests here… #
Well, isn’t it just fantastic that our Senate decided to deny Wi-Fi hotspots for students in need? Because who needs reliable internet access to do their homework, right? I mean, who wants to close the “homework gap” and actually help students succeed when we can just let them struggle instead? Thank you, Sen. Ted Cruz, for looking out for the biased content and parental control
Wow, like seriously, what’s up with this whole Wi-Fi hotspot situation? Kids need internet to do their school stuff, right?! Why are they trying to block it? And why do they think it’s gonna expose students to biased content? I mean, come on, kids these days probably know more about the internet than most adults! It’s not like
omg wut?! y r dey blockin wi-fi for kids??
